FINALLY...done

This has been a long 12 month journey...a time of great despair, of great hope, of great reconciliation. While my project took a number of forms before I was satisfied with the results, I am very pleased with the final result, and plan to add these words, one underneath each heart: faith, hope, love.

You did a fabulous job of portraying Faith, Hope and Love... If you mixed up these squares, I'd have no trouble at all telling which is which. They are all beautiful! Is each square within a square a BJP page for one particular month? Do these three grouped pieces represent your whole year's journey? Is the background needle felting? I'm so curious about your work... Please tell more!

Robin,

Yes, each square within a square represents one month in the year's journey. I stumbled upon needle felting, and found myself immersed in the joy of being able to take the wondrous colors of rovings and turning them into paintings of thread. I am completely hooked on yet another artistic technique, and love the way it blends with beads.

I plan to mount these squares on the piece of denim which is behind the squares, adding the affirmations in some technique (not sure if it will be beads, or felting, or painting, or pastels..) and will frame it in a shadow box style frame so that the dimension of the squares will not be lost.

Thank you so very much, Robin, for beginning BJP and for letting me have the honor of participating this year. I look forward to the coming year with great joy, for I know I will stretch my creative muscles even more.

Oh this turned out lovely! What is so cool is that you waited till you were completely done for the unveiling. I would love to see it again when you are totally finished...

How very cool! I am so glad you are sharing these with us. It sounds like you had quite a year, and that these journal pieces reflect the emotions you went through.

Yours, Susan

Thanks, Anna, for answering my questions. I've done a little needle felting too and agree that beads go very well with it. I taught at a weaving conference where there was a pre-conf class in vessel making (needle felting) and embellishment (beads)... When I saw what the students were making, I wished I had taken the class.

I agree with Pam about wanting to see the whole assembly when it's finished.

Thank you so much for sharing these with us. The integration of each group of 4 is so true to life...change often doesn't happen overnight, but over months. The pieces are beautiful and inspiring.

What a neat series for your journal pages. Hope to see them all put together with the words added.
